The soundBadge measures from 20Hz to 20 kHz accurately for levels spanning from 60 to 140 dBSPL (143 dBC peak). A-weighted levels have an even lower noise floor and you can expect to measure from 55 dBSPL while on A-weighting. In the future, the addition of an external microphone will be able to extend this range to include levels below 45 dBSPL on A-weighting.

Yes. The soundBadge is designed to work in all environments. Although the soundBadge does come with a windshield, strong winds will register as sound. This is problem common to all microphones.

The soundBadge has a number of measurement channels. The channel is set from the configuration page off the DOSE page. Hold the 'A' or right button for 5 seconds while on the DOSE page and then press the 'A' button to advance to the 'Ch' page. The channel should be set to '4' for the internal microphone. The other channels are reserved for special uses (see manual). If this isn't the problem, please contact your authorized dealer.

If the LCD is not responding even when the device is plugged into the USB then either the power system is broken, or the LCD itself may be damaged. It must be returned to your authorized dealer to be replaced.

If the device is not recognized by your laptop when plugged into a USB socket, try connecting with a different cable. If the problem persists then you will need to return the unit to your authorized dealer.

However we do require you get a return merchandize authorization to return the unit this can be done by emailing or contacting your authorized dealer. The reason we require this is because sometimes we can solve the problem in a simple way without the need to replace the unit.

The soundBadge battery should last many years becasue it is a very low power device. But if you plan to store it for a long period of time, you should charge it once a year. In the event the battery is not holding a sufficiant charge, you can return the device to have the battery replaced by your auhorized dealer or Audio3 Ltd. If the device is older than 2 years and out of warantee, there will be a fee to replace your battery.

Usually in this case nothing is wrong. Your computer is set to automatically adjust for daylight savings time (look in set Date and Time). The date on your soundBadge may not be set correctly. Refer to the manual to set the date.
